01 / The challenge

Frontline work. Too easy to overlook.

Alabaré was doing vital work with people facing homelessness and vulnerability, but the scale and human impact of that work needed a more consistent public profile.

The challenge was not simply to generate isolated press hits. It was to build a dependable media rhythm around services, fundraising, campaigns and real human stories — broadening awareness across the UK without losing the sensitivity the subject demanded.

02 / The approach

Build a drumbeat, not a one-off hit.

David Carter, founder of Clockwork, supported Alabaré from 2024 to 2025 with hands-on PR strategy and media relations. The work combined proactive story development, regular press-office pitching, broadcast opportunities, local-radio spokesperson support and rapid response around timely issues.

Fundraising and awareness events became media moments in their own right. Support covered build-up and on-the-day publicity for campaigns including the BIG Sleep, while the Colour Dash and 10K Speedway created a fresh route into lifestyle, community and regional media.

Influencer outreach extended the story beyond traditional press. British endurance athlete and Destination X star Nick Butter supported the Colour Dash, helping Alabaré reach audiences beyond its existing supporter base.

03 / The result

From local stories to wider attention.

The programme created a sustained flow of earned media, averaging around 15 pieces of coverage a month during the engagement, alongside regular local and regional visibility.

Alabaré secured broadcast and news opportunities with ITV and BBC, while campaign stories, services and fundraising activity continued to generate coverage across local media and specialist networks.

Just as importantly, the work strengthened the charity’s ability to show up consistently: with spokespeople ready for radio and television, events designed with media hooks in mind, and a broader mix of journalists, partners and influencers helping carry the story. Later coverage, including ITV reporting in 2026, shows that media visibility continuing beyond the 2024–25 engagement.
